"Zeleni Zec" (Green Rabbit) was founded in year 2000 with
main goal to promote traditional style of life and preservation of
nature's resources.
Since we are not born here but, by strange
twist of fate, from Capital moved to the area about ten Years ago,
persuaded by "friend of a friend" who enjoyed our hospitality once, we
decided to open our home to guests and invite people from urban areas to
see the reasons why we found our refuge here.
Almost untouched Nature in all her glory
where in one place you can find river valley with plains and next to it
hillside with forest and meadows is one micro cosmos offering peace and
tranquility combined with modern means of communication if you get too
bored.
After so many Years we are still not
bored...
Besides the Nature, nearby are located
two towns: Zaječar i Knjaževac connected by the same river - Timok;
archeological sites - Felix Romuliana, Timacum Minus... A little bit
further away is Babin Zub on Stara Planina which will soon become a
major ski resort.
Village household "Zeleni Zec" entered
into country tourism (agro tourism, rural tourism or whatever at the time
being popular term might be) in early 2005. By mid 2007. we sent request
for categorization, based on which we were registered as an establishment
of second category and got three *** stars.
You can find us in Tourist Organization
of Serbia Catalogue "Villages of Serbia"
which was presented on Tourism Fair in Berlin 2006 and some other
Tourist Guides.
At the beginning of 2007. we founded
Association of milk and dairy products producers
"KOK centar Stara Planina", Mali Izvor, Zaječar (see "News").
Abbreviation KOK stands for Koze (Goats), Ovce
(Sheep) i Krave (Cows) where we represent Goat part of the name.
Main Goal of Association was to acquire
shared machinery and show that motto "together we are stronger" is not
only an empty phrase.
That turned out to be so successful that
one part of the group started to think about forming a cooperative and a
common farm (maybe even regional Educational Center to share our
experience with others) as a higher level of association where, together
with common interest, resources and powers would be united to achieve
profitable and sustainable engagement in one thing that lays on all of
our hearts - breeding of Goats, Sheep and Cows. |
